Before You Write: Understanding What’s Really Happening

The thoughts you’re about to journal aren’t random. They’re part of a cycle.

A cycle that either keeps you stuck or sets you free.

The B.E.L.I.E.F. Framework shows you exactly how your beliefs create the results you’re experiencing—and more importantly, where to interrupt the pattern.

Troubleshooting Guide

When the Old Belief Resurfaces

Transformation isn't linear.

Even after dismantling a limiting belief, it may try to creep back in. This is normal. This guide helps you navigate those moments with grace and truth.

Scenario 1: "I thought I was over this, but the old belief is back."

What's Happening:

Neural pathways take time to fully rewire. The old belief was a well-worn path in your brain—it's going to feel familiar when stress or triggers arise.

What to Do:

  • Acknowledge it without shame: "The old belief is here, but it's not the truth."
  • Speak your new belief out loud 3 times
  • Ask yourself: "What triggered this? Was I tired, stressed, or in a vulnerable moment?"
  • Remind yourself: This is a thought, not your identity

Scenario 2: "I don't fully believe my new belief yet."

What's Happening:

Belief doesn't always come before action—sometimes action builds belief. You're in the gap between knowing truth intellectually and feeling it emotionally.

What to Do:

  • Keep declaring it anyway. Faith isn't about feeling—it's about obedience
  • Look for evidence: Where has the new belief already shown up in your life?
  • Take small actions that align with the new belief, even if you don't feel it
  • Give yourself grace. Integration takes time

Scenario 3: "Someone triggered the old belief and I reacted from it."

What's Happening:

External triggers can activate old patterns before you have time to think. This doesn't mean you've lost progress—it means you're human.

What to Do:

  • Don't spiral. One reaction doesn't undo all your work
  • Name what happened: "I reacted from the old belief because [trigger]."
  • Apologize if needed, then move forward
  • Identify the trigger so you can prepare for it next time
  • Recommit to your new belief

Scenario 4: "I'm doubting the process. Did this even work?"

What's Happening:

Doubt is often a defense mechanism when transformation feels vulnerable. Your brain may resist change even when it's good for you.

What to Do:

  • Review your answers from the 4DIS lessons. Remind yourself of the work you did
  • Look for evidence of change—even small shifts matter
  • Talk to someone you trust about your doubts
  • Pray and ask God to strengthen your faith in this process

Scenario 5: "I need to do this for multiple limiting beliefs."

What's Happening:

You've realized you have more than one giant. This is normal—most of us do.

What to Do:

  • Focus on ONE belief at a time. Don't overwhelm yourself
  • Give yourself 2-4 weeks to integrate your current transformation before starting the next
  • Repeat the 4DIS Method for each limiting belief you identify
  • Celebrate progress. Dismantling one giant is a victory

Scenario 6: "I'm stuck on one of the 4 steps."

What's Happening:

Some steps may feel harder than others depending on your belief and background. That's okay—you don't have to rush through.

What to Do:

  • Take your time. Spend extra days on the step that feels challenging
  • Journal through it. Sometimes writing helps you process what you can't verbalize
  • Ask God to reveal what you need to see or release
  • If you're stuck on Step 5 (Healing the Wound), consider professional support

Remember:

Setbacks are not failures. They're opportunities to practice what you've learned. Every time you catch the old belief and replace it with truth, you're rewiring your brain and strengthening your faith.

This is a journey, not a destination. Keep going.
